Recipe Tuesday

Homemade BBQ Sauce
My mom got this recipe from a magazine many many years ago, and it's a favorite in our house. We use it mostly on ribs, but it's amazing on chicken, pork and beef!!

In a 2 -3 quart pot, over medium heat, add:

1/4 cup olive oil and 4 cloves minced garlic. Stir until golden (about 4 minutes)

Stir in (stir well)
~ 1/2 cup firmly packed brown sugar
~ 1/2 cup red wine vinegar
~ 1/2 cup chicken broth
~ 1/4 cup tomato paste
~ 3tbsp. soy sauce
~ 2tsp. dry mustard

Bring to a boil and then reduce heat to medium. Heat until reduced (about 15 minutes).

it seems like mom always let it simmer most of the day (or at least afternoon) torturing me with the delightful smell. Is that wrong?
